Departure
Day of travel across the International Date Line to Tokyo.
DAY 2
Tokyo
After arriving at Tokyo Haneda Airport, you will clear immigration, quarantine, and custom formalities. Transfer to a 4-star Tokyo hotel by airport limousine bus.
DAY 3
Mt. Fuji & Hakone
Full day tour to Hakone National Park where the iconic Mt Fuji stands at 3,776 meters. Japan’s tallest mountain as well as the best-known symbol. Mt Fuji is most attractive when its majestic presence is snow-capped.
Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Owakudani Valley, where you will witness an active volcano’s dramatic scenery with surrounding hot spring and sulfurous fume rising from the earth. Continue to a serene cruise on Lake Ashi, surrounded by picturesque landscape. An enroute visit to the historical Tokugawa Shogun Check Point, nestled along an avenue of ancient cryptomeria tree. Enjoy a woodwork demonstration showcasing the artistry and craftsmanship that Japan is renowned for. Tour returns to Tokyo. After a delightful dinner at a Tokyo Izakaya for dinner, we will take a stroll through the dazzling streets of Ginza. (BIL|D)
DAY 4
Tokyo – Harmony of Past and Present
Tokyo is a dynamically modern metropolis of twelve million people, effortlessly blends centuries-old traditions with the pulsating rhythms of contemporary urban life.
Start the day by joining local merchants and neighbours in a heartwarming Buddhism Fire Ceremony at a local temple, a blessing for prosperity and health.
Next, we head to the renowned old Tsukiji Fish Market (outer market). Explore the lively merchant stores and its busy bustling morning buying and selling scene come alive.
Explore Imperial Palace and its serene East Garden, where the echoes of Japan’s imperial history still resonate. Ascend to Tokyo Tower to command a panoramic view of the cityscape, providing an awe-inspiring perspective of Tokyo’s vast urban expanse,
Visit the historic Asakusa Kannon Temple nestled within the bustling Nakamise Shopping arcade. Hence, you will step back in time and gain for a glimpse of Tokyo’s past. (BILID)
DAY 5
Tokyo – Yamanaka Onsen
Morning departure by bullet train to Yamanaka Onsen Town. While on board, savor the delight of a traditional Japanese bento box lunch, a culinary treat that perfectly complements your high-speed adventure.
Yamanaka Onsen boasts a rich history of exquisite lacquerware craftsmanship. Our next destination is a visit to a Yamanaka Lacquerware workshop where you will witness the meticulous artistry behind these timeless pieces. Enjoy the enchantment of a leisurely walk through the idyllic and rustic beauty of Kakusenkei Creek. Let the soothing sounds of nature and the tranquil surroundings wash away the cares of the world.
Our day concludes with an overnight stay at a charming Japanese hot spring spa (Ryokan), offering a traditional Japanese hospitality. DAY 6
Yamanaka – Kanazawa – Inami
Kanazawa sightseeing starts with a visit to the enchanting Higashi Chaya District, known for its “chaya” or geisha houses. These historical establishments have been centers of feasts and entertainment since the early 1600s, preserving the rich traditions of Japanese culture.
Prepare to be captivated by the serene beauty of Kenrokuen Garden, a masterpiece ranking amongst Japan’s top three most exquisite, landscaped gardens. It’s name “Kenrokuen”, translate to “garden combining six” alluding to the garden’s six remarkable attributes, spaciousness, tranquility, artistry, antiquity, abundant water sources and breathtaking vistas.
Immerse yourself in the world of artistry at the Arts and Craft Hall, where a display of beautiful Kutani ware and silk painting Kimono fabric exhibits will inspire your appreciation for traditional craftsmanship.
Step back in time as we explore the Nagamachi District, once inhabited by middle to high-ranking samurais. Visit a beautifully preserved Nomura Samurai Residence, offering a glimpse into the lives of these esteemed warriors and featuring a stunning back garden.
Continuing our adventure, we travel to the nearby city of Inami, renowned for its sculpting heritage. Here, we will spend the night at relaxing hot spring resort, allowing you to unwind and rejuvenate amid the tranquil surroundings of this sculpture town. (BILID)
DAY 7
Inami – Gokayama – Shirakawago – Takayama
Morning departure to the quaint old sculpture town of Inami. As you stroll along the cobblestone streets of the Inami’s main thoroughfare, you will be immersed in a world of craftsmanship. Countless woodcarving studios line the streets, with the rhythmic sounds of wooden hammers shaping intricate carvings. Even everyday items like bus stops, telephone boxes, and nameplates are exquisitely carved, imbuing the town with a unique Inami character.
Our first stop takes us to the serene Zuisenji Temple Gate, a masterpiece of woodwork dating back to 1607.
Our journey continues to Gokayama, a World Heritage-listed Ainokura Gassho farmhouse village. Herea, amidst a backdrop of farmland, stone walls and snow-covered forests, you will step into a bygone aera.
After visiting traditional washi paper mills visit and savoring a countryside lunch, we embark on a scenic drive through the majestic Japan Alps. At Shirakawago Observatory, we are treated with panoramic views of the tranquil Japanese countryside, nestled deep within the mountains.
Our day culminates with our arrival in the rustic and charming town of Takayama. Sake is one of Takayama’s local specialties. We will also enjoy some leisurely window shopping along the Old street of Sanmachi, a historic district.

Day 8
Takayama – Gero
Morning walking tour along the banks of the scenic Miyagawa River, with lively atmosphere of the Morning Farmer Market. This is a local market with a pleasant atmosphere as tourists and locals exploring the stalls, sampling local goods and delicacies.
Next is the colourful Takayama Matsuri Yatai Kaikan, a showcase of cultural treasures. Here, exhibiting the four of the eleven floats of the Takayama Matsuri, an autumn festival renowned for its grandeur.
The elaborately decorated floats are several hundred years old and beautiful examples of Takayama’s legendary craftsmanship and artistry.,
Journey continues to Gero Onsen, one of the three most famous hot springs in all of Japan. Overnight at a hotel with hot spring spa facilities. (BILID)
DAY 9
Gero Onsen – Tsumago – Magome – Miho Museum
Today, we embark on a journey back in time to explore two Nakasendo post towns of Magome and Tsumago. As you wander through the cobbled streets and winding alleys of these picturesque towns, the setting and atmosphere have been well preserved since the old samurai days, offering a glimpse into Japan’s rich history.
After lunch, tour will drive through Nagoya and arrive at the architectural marvel, the Miho Museum.
Nestled harmoniously in its natural surroundings, the Miho Museum is a true masterpiece of design.
The museum’s exhibits consist of work from ancient civilizations such as the Egyptians, Romans, and various Asian cultures.
Overnight is at Lakeside Biwako Hotel where you will find tranquility and relaxation. (BILD)
DAY 10
Lake Biwako – Kyoto
Kyoto, with its thousand-year history as Japan’s capital, stands as a profound repository of Japanese art, culture, religion, and philosophical though.
Our day commences at Kiyomizu Temple, renowned for its expansive wooden veranda that gracefully extends over a pristine valley, offering a panoramic vista of the city. Sanjusangendo, a temple noted for its 1001 gilded wooden statues of the Goddess of Mercy.
Our next stop is Nijo Castle, where the past comes to life amidst splendid architecture and captivating gardens. As a treat, we’ll also enjoy a colourful Kimono show, a dazzling display of traditional Japanese attire. Our cultural odyssey continues with visits to two world-class heritage sites. The Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji), its shimmering exterior a symbol of opulence and spiritual grace. Then Ryoanji Temple, Japan’s famous Rock Garden. (BILID)
DAY 11
Kyoto – Arashiyama – Kyoto
Arashiyama is a pleasant, sightseeing area in the western outskirts of Kyoto. This charming locale has beckoned travelers since the Heian Period (794-1185), when nobles sought solace its natural beauty.
Arashiyama is a true delight, especially during the cherry blossom and fall color seasons when nature transforms the landscape into a symphony of colors. Whether it’s the soft pinks of spring or the fiery hues of autumn, Arashiyama promises a feast for the eyes.
Our adventure kicks off as we board the Sagano Scenic Railway, which winds alongside the enchanting Hozu River. This scenic train journey spans 25 kilometers, offering breathtaking views of spring cheery blossom or the vibrant golden hues of autumn.
A leisurely two-hour boat cruise along the Honzu River, an experience that immerses us in the beauty of forested mountainsides and tranquil waters.
Among Arashiyama’s treasures, Tenryuji Temple stands out as one of Kyoto’s five great Zen temples.
It is the largest and most impressive temple in the area. Recognized as an UNESCO World Heritage Site, Tenryuji boasts attractive gardens with winding walking paths that lead you through the enchanting Bamboo Grove. (BILID)
DAY 12
Kyoto – Himeji Castle – Seto Inland Sea – Kotohira
Today, our journey takes us from the cultural riches of Kyoto to the tranquil expanse of the Seto Inland Sea. We begin our day with a brief stop at the awe-inspiring Himeji Castle, a national treasure that stands as a testament to Japan’s rich heritage.
Next destination is Korakuen, a sprawling garden that has earned the prestigious title of Japan’s second-best garden. Our adventure continues as we embark on a boat cruise that will carry us beneath the towering arches of the Seto Bridge. This engineering marvel spans an impressive 9.1 kilometers, connecting the Main Island with Shikoku Island.
Our day concludes in charming town of Kotohira, known for its small local hot spring ryokans. (BILID)
DAY 13
Kotohira- Shimanami Seaway – Hiroshima
Morning visit to the Towel Museum of Art, where creativity and culture converge in a unique setting. From there, our journey continues along the Shimanami Seaway, a picturesque route that will lead us to Hiroshima.
Our first stop is the Kirosan Observatory Park, perched atop Mt Kiro at the southernmost point of Oshima Island. Here, you will find the most spectacular view over the Seto Inland Sea. The observatory’s architecture itself is a work of art adding to the unique charm of this spot.
As we arrive in Hiroshima, we will pay a visit to the Hiroshima Peace Park, a place that carries a profound message of hope and reconciliation. We will witness the haunting silhouette of the Atomic Bomb Dome, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and explore the Peace Memorial Museum. The Peace Flame, forever burning in front of the Memorial Cenotaph, stands as a solemn vow never to extinguish until all nuclear weapons are abolished. (BILID)
DAY 14
Hiroshima – Kintaikyo Bridge – Miyajima Island
Our morning adventure takes us with a short drive to the picturesque city of Iwakuni.
We will be enchanted by the crystal-clear Nishiki River, the graceful arches of the Kintaikyo Bridge and the historical ambience of a former small castle town. Kintaikyo, another architectural gem that has graced the landscape for centuries. Enjoy a delectable grilled oyster lunch, savoring the flavors of the sea in this coastal region.
Our journey continues to the sacred Miyajima Island by ferry. Here, we visit the iconic Itsukushima Shrine (UNESCO), a vibrant symbol of Japan’s spiritual heritage. The red Torii gate, a marvel built in the sixth century that appears to float in the sea during high tide. It is a grand and unique architectural wonder which combines manmade achievements and natural elements.
To conclude our journey, we gather for a heartfelt farewell dinner featuring a Hiroshima local dish known as okono-mi-yaki, often described as “cabbage pizza”. It is a delightful culinary experience that perfectly sums up the local favors of Hiroshima. (BILID)
DAY 15
Hiroshima Airport – Departure
This morning, we check out of our hotel after breakfast. It is time to say farewell and take with us some wonderful memories of stunning scenery, delicious food and fabulous time together filled with fun and laughter. Depending on your departure itinerary, you may have time for some last-minute shopping. Travel in comfort as you board an Airport Limousine Bus to Hiroshima Airport. (B)
