JAPAN COUNTRY TALE 9 Days / 8 Nights

 

DAY 1

                            

Tokyo – Arrival
After arriving at Tokyo Haneda Airport, you will clear immigration, quarantine, and custom formalities. Transfer to a 4-star hotel by airport bus or limousine.

 

DAY 2                                   

 

Tokyo – Harmony of Past and Present
Tokyo is a dynamically modern metropolis of twelve million people, effortlessly blends centuries-old traditions with the pulsating rhythms of contemporary urban life.   

Start the day by joining a coach bus tour.  Explore Imperial Palace and its Nijubashi Bridge, where the echoes of Japan’s imperial history still resonate.  Next, tour will visit the renowned old Tsukiji Fish Market (outer market).  Explore the lively merchant stores and its busy bustling morning buying and selling scene come alive.  Senso-ji, Tokyo’s oldest temple located in Asakusa with its history dates back to A.D. 628.   Entrance to the temple is via colorful Kaminarimon Gate onto the lively Nakamise Shopping arcade, a pedestrian lane leading to the shrine and lined with more than 80 stalls selling souvenirs and traditional Japanese crafts.   Enjoy a tea ceremony experience before ascending to Tokyo Tower for a panoramic view of the cityscape.   Evening is free at leisure.       (BILI-)

 

DAY 3                                   

 

Mt. Fuji & Hakone
Full day coach tour to Hakone National Park where the iconic Mt Fuji stands at 3,776 meters. Japan’s tallest mountain as well as the best-known symbol.  Mt Fuji is most attractive when its majestic presence is snow-capped. 

First stop is the 5th Station situated at 2,300 meters above sea level. Lunch at local restaurant.   Continue to a serene cruise on Lake Ashi, surrounded by picturesque landscape.   Take a ropeway ride to the peak of Mt Komagatake.  Cableway ride up to the spiritual Hakone Shrine Motosumiya that nestles at the mountaintop.  Tour returns to Tokyo.   (BILI-)

 

DAY 4                                   

 

Tokyo – Kanazawa
Board the shinkansen bullet train to Kanazawa via scenic countryside route.  Upon arrival at station, you will meet your tour guide for a sightseeing around this cultural and historical

Kanazawa sightseeing starts with a visit to the enchanting Higashi Chaya District, known for its “chaya” or geisha houses.   These historical establishments have been centers of feasts and entertainment since the early 1600s, preserving the rich traditions of Japanese culture.

Kenrokuen Garden, a masterpiece ranking amongst Japan’s top three most exquisite, landscaped gardens.  It’s name “Kenrokuen”, translate to “garden combining six” alluding to the garden’s six remarkable attributes, spaciousness, tranquility, artistry, antiquity, abundant water sources and breathtaking vistas.

Explore the Nagamachi District, once inhabited by middle to high-ranking samurais.  Visit a beautifully preserved Nomura Samurai Residence, offering a glimpse into the lives of these esteemed warriors and featuring a stunning back garden.   (BILI-)

 

DAY 5                   

 

Kanazawa – Takayama

Take an early express train via scenic Japanese Alps to old town Takayama. The whole town is museum like, dotted with attraction after attraction.  Self-guided walking tour to the famous old street of San Machi Suji with its historic buildings and quaint atmosphere. Enjoy local sake testing in small brewery or window shopping in many interesting and unique local stores. Overnight is at Takayama Hida Plaza Hot Spring Hotel to enjoy the renowned Hida hot spring Onsen.  (BI-I-)

 

DAY 6                   

 

Takayama – Shirakawago – Gokayama Village

Board the World Heritage Bus tour to Shirakawago and Gokayama Village.   A secluded snowy mountain village retain the historic landscape with some 140 traditional vernacular farm house-style homes called gassho zukuri. Several gassho houses have been designated as Important Cultural Property. (BI-I-)

 

DAY 7                   

 

Takayama – Kyoto

Miyagawa Asaichi Morning Farmer Market where many local handicrafts and small gift items are displayed.   Board the afternoon train to Kyoto.   Explore nearby Gion Geisha district on your own. (BI-I-)

 

DAY 8                   

 

Kyoto
Kyoto was Japan’s capital for over 1000 years, and during that time became the repository of much of the best of Japanese art, culture, religion and thought. Full day coach tour to Kiyomizu Temple, is famous for its wide wooden veranda jutting out over an exquisite valley that extend to a panoramic view of the city, and Former Imperial Palace, Nijo Castle where shogun lived, Golden Pavilion and Heian Shrine’s inner garden where you will enjoy cherry blossom or tree and flower of four seasons. All these are the beautiful World Heritage sites.   (BILI-)

 

DAY 9                   

 

Kyoto
